Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (English: Sometimes Happiness, Sometimes Sadness) is a 2011 Indian Hindi-language drama film written and directed by Siddharth Anand. The film features actors Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Hrithik Roshan, Sanjay Dutt and Jaya Bhaduri in lead roles. A romantic comedy filmed on a ₹75 million budget it tells the story of a handsome protagonist who falls in love with an attractive girl but he soon learns that she is actually married to his best friend. The film was released on 10 October 2011. The movie starts with Abhishek Bachchan and Shruti Haasan spending a week holidaying in the woods, both thinking of each other. They end up falling asleep and this is revealed as 'dream'. Meanwhile, Deepika Padukone comes to visit her friend (Shruti Haasan's sister) who happens to be Amitabh Bachchan's adopted daughter. She also mentions that she is staying at her friend's house that she had mentioned earlier too and is not staying with the famous actor. Deepika meets Amitabh Bachchan and he introduces her to his adopted daughter. Deepika's friend leaves telling Deepika to come over after finishing her studies. They both take the camcorder which has come along with Amitabh Bachchan's daughter and they all go to the woods to spend the rest of the day. Deepika and Amitabh spend time alone in the woods, helping each other with their bike-riding, falling in love. After falling asleep, Abhishek Bachchan wakes up and rushes out of his tent to find Shruti Haasan hiding behind a tree. He calls her but she pretends she does not know him. He then goes into his tent where he finds Shruti's bag full of clothes which were meant for Deepika. He is confused as to why she would take any of these clothes. He opens up her bag and finds Deepika's wardrobe with Deepika's face on it. He goes looking for Shruti but doesn't find anywhere near her. He goes back to their campsite where everyone has arrived. Abhishek tells everyone about his dream about Shruti and the photocopy of the picture he had found in Shruti's bag, showing her wearing Deepika's clothes that he thought she had taken with her to the woods. Deepika is confused as to how anyone could have gotten into her wardrobe. She is very hurt by the fact that he is suspicious of her and she packs up to leave. Amitabh Bachchan decides to leave as well since they have been having a lovely time playing with their bikes and does not want to ruin it. He tells Deepika that he thinks she has someone else in mind and Deepika says that she does not think he could be right.
